Level 1 - Yoga for Children with Autism and Special Needs Online Course


Will we be able to connect with the instructor and participants in the course?


This course will be a combination of online learning and virtual contact with the lead trainer and participants. We believe strongly in connection and community so we are offering a platform that is easy, convenient and offers an opportunity to connect with Shawnee and the other members of the community.

What format will the course be presented in?

The course will be presented via webinars, videos, reading assignments and scheduled Zoom meetings.

Will there be required reading for the course?

Yes, the required book for the course will be Asanas for Autism and Special Needs - Yoga to Help children with Their Emotions, Self-regulation and Body Awareness as well as the manual content for the course. The book is REQUIRED for the course as it is part of the curriculum.

What technology and equipment will I need to take the course?

You will need access to a PC computer, laptop or cell phone and a good wifi signal. Installing the Zoom app is advised if you are using a cell phone. You will also need video and audio on your device.


Please note: It will be your responsibility to ensure you have all of the technology needed in order to participate with ease in the course. The presenter will not be responsible for issues related to technology on the participants end.

Is this course approved through Yoga Alliance?

Yes, we are a YACEP approved School through Yoga Alliance. 

Will the hours I've taken online in this course apply to future Asanas for Autism and Special Needs courses?

Yes, Once you take the Level 1 course, you can attend the Level 2 course to become a Certified Children's Yoga Teacher with an Emphasis on Making Yoga and Mindfulness Inclusive and Accessible to Children of Diverse Abilities and Backgrounds. See Details Here 

Do I have to be in attendance for all of the Zoom meetings?


It is a requirement to join the virtual meetings, however, please contact Shawnee to discuss should there be a conflict with a small portion of the online meetings.

When will the Zoom meetings take place?

The Zoom meetings will be 2pm-5pm PST May 15th, 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th.

Will I receive a certificate after completion?

Yes, you will receive a Certificate in completing 25-hours Training in Yoga for Children with Autism and Special Needs.

Do I have to be a yoga teacher or know about yoga to take this course?

There are no pre-requisites to take this course. Just an open heart, open mind and desire to bring the benefits of yoga and mindfulness to ALL CHILDREN!

What is the cost of the course?

The cost is $550 if paid by April 30th, $650 following.
