Michelle Puopolo, RCYT, Founder/Owner Exceptional Yogis

Michelle began her personal journey with yoga in 2014 in search of spiritual and personal growth and completed her 200 hr RYT in Troncones, Mexico.  Eager to continue learning, Michelle completed Yoga for the Special Child in 2015. When she discovered Asanas for Autism and Special Needs, she knew this was her path. Michelle has since attended both level 1 and level 2, completing her RCYT certification in 2017.

Michelle is the founder and Executive Director of Beyond Autism, a non-profit school located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Michelle and her husband wanted to provide functional academics and life skills in a supportive and compassionate environment for their son, Nicholas.  Michelle incorporated yoga into the curriculum from the first day of school and the students continue to practice yoga each school day in small groups or 1:1 sessions.

"Personally, yoga has increased my awareness to my body and has quieted my mind, taught me to self-regulate through breath work and increased my flexibility through asanas, all in a supportive and noncompetitive environment. I thought if yoga has done all this for me, imagine the impact that yoga could have on children living with autism, sensory processing disorder, anxiety and other special needs. I am both honored and excited to bring yoga into my community."

An Army Veteran and former nurse, Michelle resides in Scottsdale with her husband and two sons.
